On Sunday, August 2, 2015, between 2300 and 0300 hours EST, our team will be migrating our SmarterMail server from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2012. With similar reasoning from our recent web server upgrade, our team feels that Windows Server 2012 has been thoroughly tested by the IT community over the past several years and is safe to use in a high-traffic production environment. This upgrade has been well-planned and coincides with our efforts to run the most recent and updated software provided by our vendors.
During this time period, e-mail users may receive error messages and/or unresponsiveness when trying to access SmarterMail. All incoming and outgoing e-mails will be queued and delivered once the new server is operational. As always, we will do our best to minimize the time frame of this outage. We have performed several trial runs of the migration checklist and are pleased with the outcome. Note: This upgrade will not affect website service in any way.
