Firehouse Solutions is moving our servers to a cloud computing environment this Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:00 PM EST. We anticipate 1 hour of downtime while the IP addresses are migrated.
In geek terms, the Cloud will offer many benefits to our current infrastructure, including increased speed, solid reliability, improved security, easier maintenance, and scalability. The Cloud allows our team to request and deploy server resources, such as disk storage, memory, and processing, seamlessly without having to shut down or reboot. It also supports our ability to backup data and provide disaster-recovery services.
In layman terms, the Websites, SmarterStats, and SmarterMail will no longer run on one server; they will run on several hundred servers. The Cloud is located in Newark, Delaware.
Since we will continue using our same IP addresses, no domain name changes are needed for this migration. After the migration has completed, we will run several checks to ensure that all website data and services are successfully running on the Cloud. We will send a follow-up message once this migration has completed.
