The ability to have a traffic camera as part of the display boards would be great.

Kyle, awesome idea! Our team is planning to code a traffic camera widget for the State of Maryland. Here is the link: http://chart.maryland.gov/trafficcameras

We are currently experiencing issues with scripting this particular project because the State of Maryland Office of Chart does not support SSL Encryption (https) for chart.maryland.gov. They also have unsecure playlists and streams.

We have officially reached out to the State of Maryland Office of Chart for consideration adding a SSL certificate for their traffic cam network. This would alleviate all the connectivity issues we are facing.

Although it took me a while to go through the HTML and find the code, I was able to use the embed widget to have the PennDOT cameras show on our board that are relevant to our area.

Great news.  We heard back from the Maryland Office of Chart and they hope to implement SSL in December 2018.

Ricky are you able to further explain how to found the embed code? Looking to do this for I-81 in our Local Alarm area. Thanks!

I'm from Collegeville, PA 30 miles west of philadelphia. Pendot has cameras along our route 422 that we would love to integrate into our display board. If you could explain how you were able to do this, I would appreciate it. You could email me at: wentworthj@collegevillefire.org
Thank you.

We are pleased to announce that the Maryland Office of Chart has finally setup traffic cameras via SSL.  Therefore, you may now add one or more Maryland Live Traffic Cameras to your display board.

The Feed ID is located in the URL

Thanks,
Ron

Brady and Jeffrey,

Sorry for the delayed response. In order to get the links for the traffic cameras, you must do a tremendous amount of digging in the 511 PA site and find the source code for each camera you want to display. Once you have the links for each camera you will then have to use the "Embed Code" widget to do some HTML work to display the cam. When I first messed around with this, I had some time at work to do it.

I am not at a PC currently, but I know when using a mobile device you have to press play as the stream does not automatically start. We are not using this display board, but I would like to use it on our iPads. The auto scroll feature has also thrown me in a loop, maybe Ron can add the option to turn it on and off? 😉

Unfortunately there is not an easier way to do this as I am not aware of any direct links PennDOT has for us to use.

I have added an additional image to my original post to give you an idea of what the script looks like.
